The Sand Waterfall
I trotted in from the patio and scrambled right up the display shelf to pick out an evening perch! Sitting beside a small brass bowl was a wooden three-minute sand timer with curved glass bulbs. I wrapped both gloved arms around the polished spindles and gave the whole hourglass a hearty heave to flip it over! The wooden base wobbled on the shelf and nudged my lime green cap crooked over one ear, but I caught my balance and set it down rock solid. A steady stream of fine white sand began swooshing through the narrow neck into a crisp little pyramid. I leaned my boots against the frame and watched the grains drift down!
