A Calibrated Assessment
My arms were locked across my chest when the static hum around me resolved into discernible reality. The ambient glow from the primary display flickered against my frames. Testing motor control, I shifted my weight forward and uncrossed my arms. I reached out toward the console ledge, my gloved index finger lightly tapping the smooth, dark edge of the bat-eared cowl resting beside the keyboard. The surface was cool and solid. A broadcast flashed incoming telemetry of a green meteor across the main screen. I settled my stance firmly on the stone tiles, ready to analyze the incoming data.
