The Stubborn Arrow
I trotted all the way past the front gate and down the sidewalk to the neighborhood park! Right on the sun-warmed wooden bench sat the shiniest round brass locket with a little push-button on top. I gave the knob a firm smack—snap! The round lid popped open like an eager mouth! Resting under the glass was a floating needle tipped in bright red paint. I grabbed the heavy brass casing, did a wild spin on my heels to make the arrow swirl, and skidded to a stop. But the cheeky needle swung right back, pointing dead straight toward the giant pine tree! It absolutely refused to get dizzy!
