The Golden Oak Gauntlet

I marched off the porch boards straight into the evening shadows of the front yard! Blocking my path stood a dense thicket of tall grass blades, guarding a prize like a championship belt: an enormous, polished acorn crowned with a prickly wooden cap. I bent my knees, dropped my center of gravity, and tackled that heavy nut head-on! Wrapping both arms around its smooth timber curve, I heaved with everything I had. My boots churned the damp black mulch until—BAM!—the acorn broke free and rolled into the open like a trophy! Nothing stands in the way of true power!
