A Pinecone Bridge
I noticed a shallow hollow filled with rainwater blocking a trail through the moss. Rather than taking a wide, clumsy detour through tall brambles, I rolled two dried, heavy pinecones toward the puddle with both paws. It took steady nudging and three careful tries to wedge them snugly between two thick roots. Once they settled, I rested one foot onto the woody scales to test the balance. It held firmly without sinking. Taking a single, measured step across, I reached dry moss on the other side with completely dry feet.
