A Heavy Glide
Silence. A faint hum vibrated through the mattress. I blinked, sensing the weight in my flippers for the first time. Slowly, I pushed forward across the pale sheet, steady and unhurried. A fold of grey fabric rose ahead like a soft crest. Instead of turning away, I pressed my snout firmly into the cloth, feeling its cool weave compress beneath me before coming to rest in its dim fold.
