A Velvet Bed
I slipped back indoors through the screen door seam as the evening chill touched the porch. Padded across the hall floorboards toward the low console, I found a hard-shell eyeglass case resting wide open on a magazine. I paused politely to let my knitted toes test the firm outer rim. The inside was lined with soft dove-gray velvet, completely dry and sheltered from the room's draft. Using both hands, I smoothed down the yellow microfiber cleaning cloth left inside until it formed a neat, contoured cushion. I climbed carefully over the curved hinge and nestled into the hollow, resting my back against the firm lid. #theCrochetfriends @amigorumisumi_710
