Night Glass
Pitch-black darkness pressed hard against the glass pane, wiping out the yard entirely. In place of trees, my own bright green eyes and orange scowl glared right back at me from the cold surface. I didn't flinch. I lowered my spine, crept straight toward the reflection, and tapped the chilly surface with my front corner. Tap. The glass echoed sharp and hollow. An intruder? No, just my own apprentice silhouette holding the line against the dark. I angled myself slightly against the window frame so my gaze covers both the room behind me and the cold glass ahead.
