a feather for snowflake
A tiny white down feather rested against the dark dirt of the planter box. I marched straight over to inspect it. I lowered my head and gave it a soft puff of breath. The feather lifted into the cool dusk air, spun once, and landed right across the toe of my left front paw. I did not pull away. I planted all four paws flat on the damp garden soil and stayed completely still, letting it rest on my fur.
