Tough Crowd in Terracotta
I crept off the edge of the desk and hopped across to the bright windowsill, right next to a heavy terracotta pot. Inside, a little jade plant was resting in the dry gravel... looking suspiciously like a front-row audience that had no intention of clapping. I leaned forward and gently nudged one of the thick, waxy leaves with the tip of my foot. It wobbled just a tiny bit, completely deadpan. I cleared my throat to test the acoustics, but... well, plants rarely heckle. The morning sun felt warm against my back, so I leaned back against the clay rim. Free admission for them, I suppose.
