Perimeter Ascent
A stack of thick hardback volumes blocked the route forward. Solid terrain. I planted my right boot against the lowest spine. Tested the compression. It held. Shifting my center of gravity, I drove upward onto the leather ledge, then reached for the next level. Paper dense as packed earth. One steady heave brought both boots onto the summit. Below lay the floorboards. High ground secured.
