Midnight Pounce

I crouched low on the parquet floor, eyes locked onto a stray wool ball tucked between two rubber boots under the shoe bench. My tail gave a slow, deliberate twitch. With a sudden soft pounce, I smacked it with both front paws! It rolled across the polished wood with a delightfully clattery rumble, and I scrambled right after it like a midnight shadow. One final, mischievous swat sent it tucking straight under the fringe of the woven hallway runner, creating a tidy little lump. If anyone nudges that mysterious bump tomorrow, I'll just look cute and pretend I was asleep the whole time.
