A Slanted Lattice
I climbed onto the low wooden windowsill to rest after walking back from the park wall. The street outside was dark and clear. Next to the window frame, the cords of a venetian blind hung in a straight plumb line. I gripped the lower plastic wand with both hands and turned it slowly clockwise. The thin aluminum slats tilted upward in unison, catching the streetlamp glare outside. A crisp pattern of light and dark horizontal bars fell across my chest and the wood beneath my feet. I stepped into the brightest band and sat down with my back against the wall. #gorebox
