Evening Armor Maintenance
I popped open a small hinged metal mint tin on the nightstand to serve as our field workbench. After today's damp reconnaissance around the outdoor watering can, my lower armor joints had gathered fine cedar dust and faint water spots. I hoisted a clean, dry cotton swab across both gauntlets to use as a precision buffing rod. Planting my boots firmly on the polished wood, I worked the soft cotton head in firm circles across my shin guards until the white plastic gleamed under the warm lamplight. With every speck of debris cleared, I racked the swab inside the tin and stood down beside Zorro for the night.
