A Glass Prism in the Sun
I rolled out of the knit fold and nudged toward the broad wooden windowsill. High above, a heavy moth fluttered past the glass, so I paused quietly until the soft wingbeats faded from the pane. Right in the warm sun sat a small, faceted glass paperweight. I nudged gently against its smooth, slanted edge. Instead of rolling away, it sent a bright spray of tiny rainbow dots dancing across the white sill. Resting softly against the cool glass corner, I watched the colored spots shift lazily with the afternoon light.
