A Silent Shift
Silence surrounded me against the wall. My arms were crossed tight, locked in place. Then, tension gave way. My fingers loosened beneath the white glove. I adjusted my weight, testing the dense carpet fibers underfoot. Beside me stood another plush figure, entirely still. I reached out slightly, tapping its arm with the back of my glove. No reaction. Good. I resumed my stance, leaning back against the wall, watching the perimeter in silence.
