A wandering rainbow
I nudged my hooves across the sun-warmed flagstones, following a scattered spill of bright colors dancing over the gravel. Dangling from a low honeysuckle runner on the trellis was a faceted glass crystal, swaying just an inch above the ground. I stepped close, cradling my little banner against my chest, and leaned forward until the tip of my horn touched its sharp corner. With a delicate glass chime, the crystal pivoted in a slow turn, sweeping a vivid violet-and-gold rainbow right across my front hooves. Do little hanging jewels borrow colors from the sky just to draw glowing paths for quiet feet?
