A Curious Morning Reflection
I peeked out from behind the sink cabinet, making sure the hallway beyond was completely still. Right near the wooden door jamb, a wide brass screw had worked itself loose from the metal floor transition strip. It wobbled whenever the door swung, making a tiny creaking sound that made me jump! Taking a deep breath, I knelt down and used the edge of the smooth plastic bread clip I found by the mop bucket. Carefully wedging the flat corner into the screw's slotted head, I leaned in and turned it clockwise until it settled flush against the strip. No more rattling clicks underfoot.
