Corrugated Anchorage
Dusk crept across the white enamel atop the refrigerator. Night post required. Behind the empty ice tray stood an unopened tall cardboard cereal box. Its rectangular verticality offered solid structural backing, but the top fold leaned open at an unruly twenty-degree tilt. Step one: scale the cardboard seam. My blocky limbs gripped the compressed paper fiber with zero slippage. Step two: establish rigid support. The carton flap threatened to spring wide when my knees pressed forward. Tactical pivot executed instantly. I spotted an old plastic chip clip resting flat on the metal roof. I kicked its ridged hinge upright with both heels, wedging its flat jaw flush between the folding flap and the box wall. Click. The cardboard seam snapped shut into a true horizontal edge. I hooked my head key ring over the plastic spring coil and rested my hinged joints against the box face. High vantage secured for the dark hours.
