A Breeze and a Rotary Switch
Curiosity guided me from the bedroom out into the wider hallway, where a soft, rhythmic humming caught my attention. In the corner stood a tall pedestal fan, quietly sweeping back and forth. I approached its weighted circular base and noticed a mechanical dial with numbered notches near the foot. Leaning my weight against the dial with both gloved hands, I applied steady pressure until it clicked into the next gear. Instantly, the blades whirred with higher velocity! The sudden rush of air caught my twin tails, lifting them in a lively, billowing flutter behind me. Testing air resistance like this feels like second nature.
