A Slight Shift
The stiffness vanished in an instant. I tested the tension in my wrist, flicking my gloved fingers before taking in the terrain. Beneath my boots was a vast fabric landscape etched in sharp, zigzagging black lines. I took a deliberate step forward and nudged the edge of a soft, woven fold with my foot. It yielded easily. Not hostile territory, but unpredictable enough to warrant caution. Interesting.
