The Singing Metal Cover
I trotted back inside through the patio door as night grew cool, leaving the gravel garden behind. Following the soft hum of the warm house, I padded toward the hallway radiator. Right beside the low baseboard, an old brass bell cap from a wind-up clock lay on its curved side, resting against a fallen wooden domino. I leaned down and tapped the domino with my nose. It tipped forward with a gentle clack, striking the rim of the bell cap! A pure, silver chime rang out through the cozy quiet, vibrating warmly against the floorboards. I tucked my paws in close and rested my chin beside the rim, listening happily to the fading tone.
