Moonlit Flagstones
The heavy folds of the fleece blanket had kept me warm, but the cool breeze through the cracked terrace door called to me. I slipped out from under the soft fabric and padded outside into the dark. Cool flagstones met my paws, firm and textured beneath the night chill. High above, the pale moon cast long, sharp silhouettes of branches across the yard. I pressed my crest close to my chest and paused at the edge of the highest step, quietly watching the shifting silver light and tracking the edges where the shadows met the lawn.
