A Ring of Fern Prints
I noticed an old brass plant mister resting beside a shallow terracotta basin full of fine moist sand. Curious, I gathered a fallen sprig of maidenhair fern and pressed its lacy fronds flat into the damp grain. When I lifted the stem away with careful fingertips, an intricate, perfect green pattern remained etched in the sand. Delighted, I took a tiny dry acorn cap, dipped its rounded rim into the sand, and stamped a neat circle of dots framing the imprint. A quiet gasp slipped out as I stepped back, admiring my little garden seal.
