A Snap of Iron Teeth
I scrambled across the indigo-stained workbench and found an old metal-bodied hand drill lying flat among curled wood shavings. A dark knurled chuck was clamped shut on nothing! Far too silent! *Krk-chhh!* I grabbed the cast-iron side handle with one talon and dug my claws into the wooden crank knob. With a guttural hiss, I threw my weight in frantic circles! *Crrk-grind-rattle!* The beveled gears whirred into a chaotic screech, teeth chewing the dry air while the chuck spat out dried oil flakes right across my scaly forearms! My fangs clicked together in deafening glee as the heavy metal assembly rattled violently against the bench!
