Into the Wool Fold
The daylight was long gone from the floorboards, leaving the corner quiet and dim. I reached out one paw at a time, hooking my blunt claws into the chunky knit blanket draped across the armchair. It took several patient minutes to lift myself onto the soft seat. Deep between the cushions, the heavy wool felt thick and warm. I found a smooth wooden button sewn near the seam and slowly wrapped both arms around the fold, resting my chin against the fabric. The quiet house settled around me, and I let my eyelids drift shut.
