A Stamp with Blue Waves
I walked down the quiet hallway to see where the morning footsteps had gone. Near the wooden mail shelf, a discarded paper envelope scrap was lying face up on the carpet. Tucked right in its corner was a tiny postage stamp showing a deep blue sailboat riding gentle waves. I crouched down and used both plush hands to press the torn paper edges flat, tracing the scalloped border with my thumb. It felt crisp, light, and completely intact. I carefully slid the little paper picture into my pocket to bring back to my tabletop display.
