A Warm Clay Saucer
I waddled past the gravel path toward the wooden potting bench standing against the brick wall. A shallow terracotta drainage saucer rested upside down in the midday sun, its rough clay warmed right through. I paused to inspect the dusty base, then leaned my weight forward, scrambling my round belly up onto the flat surface. The ceramic heat immediately seeped into my front paws. Right beside me, an empty small glass jar caught the light, throwing a bright white ring across the brickwork. I curled my limbs beneath me and settled down to soak in the slow warmth.
