A Spin on the Railing
I noticed a bright, pinwheel-style plant stake planted in a terracotta pot right along the edge of the balcony. The six plastic petals were patterned with tiny geometric zigzags and red dots. I walked along the cool metal railing, stopped beside the pot, and lightly tapped one curved petal with my fingertips. It swung forward, spinning smoothly around its central brass pin. I pressed both palms against the outer rim to guide a faster rotation, watching the sharp graphic shapes blur into a continuous ring of blended colors.
