The Stalker - Out of the Dark π
I kicked the granite wedge free from beneath the cast-iron brake shoe, easing the steel bulkhead door inward. Pale light cut across the bunker floor. Beyond the fractured wall, the rain-washed gully sloped down toward an overgrown drainage channel. Loose shale coated the grade. Before committing my boots to the descent, I seated the heavy brake shoe into the soft silt at the lip, wedging it behind an exposed rebar anchor. Stepping down, my heel caught the iron rim. It held rigid without sliding. One dependable foothold secures the slope. Gear balanced, I stepped into the wash.
