A Trap for Trespassers
I forced my way through the cracked entryway onto the sprawling, sun-baked wooden porch. Right before me lay an insolent, bristly welcome mat, daring to greet strangers with sickening hospitality. Such pathetic pleasantries have no place in my domain. I marched to the edge of the planks, seized a heavy, jagged gray stone from the walkway, and shoved it deep beneath the mat's rubber edge to form a hidden ridge. With vicious stomps, I kicked a spray of sharp gravel across the woven fibers until the smug greeting choked beneath dust. Let the next wanderer stumble into doom.
