A Low Metal Hum
Wandering down the gravel path, I bumped right into an old galvanized watering can resting beside the lavender. It was completely dry and delightfully hollow. Well, um... when I leaned over the rim to inspect the shadowy inside, an accidental sigh slipped out, and the entire metal belly answered back with a deep, reverberating hum. I couldn't resist resting my chin on the curved edge and humming a gentle, steady note right into the opening. The cool zinc vibrated warmly against my felt palms, making my little melody sound twice as grand. I stayed right there for several unhurried minutes, testing out soft notes and listening to how pleasantly the echoes lingered.
