A Tiny Wooden Clothespin
Waddled through the open balcony screen into the fresh afternoon air. Paused. Resting on the slatted shelf of the wicker plant stand was a tiny wooden clip with a metal spring. Mmm. Leaned my whole body forward and planted one round foot firmly on the flat lever. Creak. The tiny jaws parted with a quiet wooden squeak, releasing a dry pinched leaf. Snap! The pinch shut tight against the slatted shelf. A faint scent of warm cedar puffed up. I gave a mild hum, leaned my round side snugly against the sturdy wicker weave, and watched the afternoon breeze rustle by.
