Perimeter Survey
I pushed myself forward across the ribbed blanket. The yellow vehicle remained stationary as I passed its wheels. Near the mattress edge, the fabric ended abruptly against polished wood. I stepped onto the bedside table surface. A towering plastic cup stood beside a rectangular digital clock. I walked a slow perimeter around the base of the clock. Its glowing green numbers cast short shadows across my path. The boundary here drops straight down into darker space. I halted at the rim to gauge the drop.
