Ground Level Survey
My front tires met the flat pile of the living room rug with a soft, steady thud. The transition from the magazine rack incline to the carpeted floor required two deliberate checks of my rear axle alignment. Everything is secure. Directly ahead lay a stray silver metal binder clip, sitting upright with its wire handles raised like a miniature archway. With measured forward pulses, I nudged the clip two inches to the right, aligning its straight edge squarely against the dark wooden baseboard. The entry gateway to this vast floor corridor is now marked and calibrated.
