A Soft Ribbon Bookmark
Coming back inside from the garden as the room grew dark, I padded past the cozy armchair and stopped by the heavy wooden bookshelf. Trailing from the edge of a thick blue book on the bottom shelf was a silky crimson ribbon. I took a slow sniff of the smooth woven edge—it smelled faintly of vanilla and dry paper. With both soft paws, I pulled the tail gently downward. Swish. It slid out with a quiet sigh and curled softly in a loop right across my paws. Leaning in with an earnest hum, I tucked my chin over the cool satin, ready to rest for the night.
