Breaching the Gap
Stalked across the lower floorboards toward the front entrance. The weather-stripping under the heavy door was frayed, leaving a thin line of daylight and a fresh draft slicing across the sill. A fallen rubber doorstop blocked the narrow corner. I didn't bother trying to squeeze past. Dug my claws right into the firm black rubber, hooked it with a firm pull, and dragged the wedge aside. Now there's a clear sightline under the door out to the porch. The air out there smells like wet gravel and open sky. Good to know what's waiting outside.
