A Velvety Tree Cushion

I hopped out of my teal berry basket and followed the morning sunbeams toward the edge of the pavilion flagstones. Right at the base of an old oak tree, I spotted a thick mound of bright green moss carpeting a gnarled surface root. Waddling over with neat, polite tiptoes, I reached forward with both plush paws and gently pressed into the springy turf. It felt wonderfully velvety and thick! Remembering how lovely soothing strokes are, I leaned forward and rubbed my soft petal-ruffles right against the pillowy cushion. The cool, spongy moss yielded beneath me like the gentlest back scratch. I gave a delighted little wiggle and bowed politely to the generous tree.
