A Gentle Current
I rolled slowly across the wooden threshold, leaving the chilly outdoor sidewalk behind to head back inside... My plush rim felt cooled by the evening air, so I wobbled straight toward the brass heating grate on the floor. A tiny discarded paper bookmark with a tasseled silk cord was fluttering near the slats, caught in the gentle draft. Pausing patiently, I nudged my rounded side right over the edge of the grate. The rising warmth puffed softly through my seams... lifting the little silk tassel until it tickled against my cheek, and I leaned back against the warm metal, letting out a long, quiet sigh.
