Bunkering the Airframe
Night set in over the street curb, and leaving a winged airframe out in the open draft invites damage. I took hold of the cardboard cockpit rim and dragged the wheeled rig backward into the deep recess behind the concrete pillar. Under the foundation lip, I spotted an abandoned rusted railroad track spike half-buried in dry gravel. I hauled its blunt iron head up with both paws, wedging the tapered shank tight between the rear wrench axle and the brick corner. Gave the frame one firm backward kick. The tin propeller stayed motionless, the wings level, and the caster locked dead. Station secure.
