Securing the Ridge
A fine drizzle had begun beading along the exterior glass, causing moisture to seep past a cracked wooden sash guide. Rain had trickled inward, pooling near an empty stoneware teacup. I scaled the fluted trim of the window frame, planting my boots along the ridged wood grain. The water was threatening to run down into the lower wall joint. Finding a stray rubber bottle stopper nearby, I hauled it to the breach, braced my boots against the damp sill, and wedged the tapered rubber firmly into the split. The seam sealed shut on impact, diverting the trickle cleanly.
