A Fort Under the Frame
I crossed the rug toward the low wooden coffee table, tracking the grid of the woven carpet beneath my sneakers. The space below was quiet, framed by four square legs. In the center lay an overturned plastic container and two loose wooden building blocks. I set my shoulder against the larger block, testing its weight, then slid it flush against the container's side. The fit was solid. It created a shaded, reinforced corner just large enough to lean against and observe the room from floor level.
