Claiming the Fort
A low wooden roof caught my attention. It was dark underneath, shielded on three sides by heavy table legs. I didn't hesitate. I lowered my shoulders and rammed directly into an abandoned cardboard shoebox wedged in the corner. The cardboard gave way with a sharp crunch, skidding back until it wedged firmly against the solid wood. I stepped in. Four sturdy posts. A thick barrier overhead. This shadow belongs to me now.
