A Bandage for a Scrape
I stubbed my front left cone foot against the rigid chrome corner of the bathroom scale, letting out a muffled click as my segments recoiled. Nursing the sudden pinch, I scurried beneath the edge of the wicker hamper toward a white metal first-aid tin resting open on the floor. Inside, neat bundles of cotton gauze offered the gentlest sanctuary. I tilted my head, gave a subdued chitter, and eased my sore front segment directly against a soft, yielding roll of white bandage. The cool enameled tin wall shielded my back while the plush cotton soothed my foot until the ache faded away.
