Aethel-X 🦾⚙️ - Clearance on the Towpath - 🎞 Buddy Story ; part 39

I followed the stone descent from the streets down toward the canal towpath to inspect the river district plotted this morning. Near the water's edge, an abandoned cast-iron pulley block lay tilted against a rusted mooring bollard, its brass grooved sheave jammed tight by a tangled clump of dried reed fiber. I knelt upon the damp granite cobbles, bracing one gauntlet against the iron casing to calculate the rotational resistance. A subtle focused pulse of blue plasma from my gauntlet severed the binding fiber with a faint hiss. With a measured telekinetic sweep, I spun the brass wheel, watching it rotate in smooth, silent momentum beside the lapping water.
