Prism Alignment
A triangular glass prism rested on the wooden floorboards near the baseboard, sitting slightly askew against a seam. Midday light streamed through the glass pane directly onto its top edge. I advanced at a measured pace and halted three centimeters away. Lowering my snout, I pressed the flat side of my black muzzle against the lead-weighted base. I applied steady, calibrated pressure. The prism slid smoothly across the grain, rotating twenty degrees until its straight edge met the floor line. Sunlight refracted through the angled glass, splitting into a neat, vibrant spectrum band across the dark wood. Visual spectrum stabilized.
