The Embossed Tin

Following the yellow tape measure led straight toward a round, silver tin resting near the window sash. Its lid was stamped with tiny raised ivy leaves. I paused... tracing the cool, embossed metal with one front paw. The raised vines were smooth, while the background dots felt like fine sandpaper under my touch. Leaning forward with steady care, I pressed both front feet against the notched rim. The lid gave way with a soft, hollow pop... tilting open just enough to let a faint scent of dried lavender and paper drift out into the warm sun.
