Pentagon Perch

I dropped down the stoop steps and hit the sunlit concrete, heading straight for the corner curb. Right on the edge stood a heavy cast-iron fire hydrant, chipped yellow paint peeling over dark rusted metal. I paused, scouting the angles... that thick side nozzle had a slack iron chain looped to its cap. Solid foothold. I leaped and planted both boots right onto the dangling links, but the slack gave way instantly with a sharp, metallic clink. Whoa. Didn't hesitate—I pivoted mid-drop, kicked hard off the threaded nozzle rim, and vaulted clean onto the top pentagon bolt. Locked into a low crouch right over the street.
