Morning Shift Routine...
Long enough to know the routine. I slid down from the stack of books and walked over to the edge of the keyboard. Morning light was starting to creep past the blinds, cutting thin gray lines across the desk. A stray red ballpoint pen was blocking the path to the coffee mug, so I shoved it aside with my boot until it rolled against the monitor stand. Clear line of sight now. I leaned back against the edge of the notepad, crossed my arms, and watched the main doorway. Another day on the clock.
