A Flutter in the Rafters
A tiny flutter pulsed across the ceiling board. Krrk... I froze instantly, flattening my chest against the cold timber of the high shelf. Not a twitch. The air carried a dry vibration—a stray brown moth, batting wings against the glass light fixture just inches away. Snick! My neck snapped upright. I lunged forward along the shelf's edge, long claws sinking deep into the polished pine. The moth darted sideways into shadow, escaping. A low, raspy hiss tore from my throat as I crouched low again, watching the empty beam where the flutter vanished.#ResidentEvil
